SUMMER EXCURSIONS 2008

Miss Shirley's Kids Express Summer Excursions are uniquely designed classes, where children are immersed in enriching experiences that develop thinking, problem-solving, independence and self-esteem. Through carefully structured enrichment activities children gain independence, become self-directed, and self-sufficient.

Each of the one week sessions, specifically created for 5 to 9 year old children, meets Monday through Friday, from 9 to 3.

Lighthouse Baptist Church is an excellent summer location. It provides a very safe learning environment and it is easily accessible to the bus line. Parents will notice that I have added two separate weeks of Miss Shirley's Finishing School because of the demand. My thoughts were that those students ending the school year early in June might like the first session and those students heading back to school later in August might prefer the later session. If the enrollment does not bear out the demand then I will return to just one session next summer.

One week session fees are $200.00 per class but do not include meals out, admission fees, or bus fare unless otherwise noted. The 4 day session fee for Cookey Time Bakery is $160.00.

Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis. A non-refundable registration fee of $15.00 for each session is required at the time of registration.

Pottery and skin paintings like the Indians. Learn to cook the foods of early America and live life the old-fashioned way. We do what campers do best-hike, explore nature, and experience the wonders of the great outdoors. Campers learn what to do if they become lost anywhere. Two important factors taught are hiking safety and outdoor survival skills. This is every camper’s guide to exploring nature. Campers learn how to protect nature through recycling, planting flowers, pollution awareness, and respect for plant and animal life. Some simple cooking spices up our outdoor experiences. We cook our entire lunch outdoors on the last class day. Comfortable hiking shoes or tennis shoes and long pants are required.
