"Children
need to be loved not for what they do or don't do, but for just being.
We must treat them as capable and with respect. After all, they are
human beings, and deserve our very best."
"My
teaching philosophy is to immerse the child in enriching experiences
that develop a firm foundation for life, stimulate his or her thinking,
encourage problem-solving, build vocabulary, and create independence.
Children have a better understanding of their world and excel in school
when they have experience. If it hasn't been in the hand, it can't be
in the brain! Through carefully structured, enriching activities children
gain independence, become self directed and self sufficient, and learn
to make good decisions. In each class, children are given a very precious
commodity... TIME ...to discover, think, and tinker."

About
Her Philosophy:
It is Miss Shirley's philosophy that all children can be successful
if they are nurtured with wonderful enriching experiences, have their
physical needs met, feel safe and secure, and receive plenty of love
and attention.
Miss Shirley's approach is to treat all children as gifted, talented
individuals, providing an environment that stimulates thinking skills
and challenges children to be the best that they can be.
